Over the
years we have acquired numerous handy hints to plan and execute a successful
event. Here are some ideas to make your event go with a bang:
Planning
Always have the aim of the event in the back of your mind.
Set a goal of what needs to be achieved for the event as a whole, and then
break that down into manageable milestones. This provides you with a
frame work which won't seem so overburdening, and will also produce a series
of checkpoints to help you see when and where you are at with your event.

Catering
Catering can be a painful process. What do you order?
How many choices do you provide? There is no right and wrong answer to
this conundrum. The trick here is to realise that you cannot please
100% of the people 100% of the time, but you can minimise the risk.
Decide on a menu and limit your choices to 2 or 3 options. Remember
that the more choices you have, the larger your budget will need to be.
Offer at least one vegetarian choice and advise your guests
that should they have specialist needs (i.e. vegan, low fat, food allergies)
to contact you prior to the event. Most catering companies will cater
for special needs providing they are advised early, and usually at minimal
cost to you.

Venue
One of the hardest choices for anyone organising an event is
where to hold it. The trick here is to pick a place that suits your
audience. There are 3 factors to consider: who is going to attend, how
are they going to get there, and does the event's goal suit the environment.
If you are having a 50th birthday for example, a nightclub may not be the
first choice or an IT Conference may not be well suited to a local hotel in
